Right now I currently own two desktops and sort of own a laptop but gave it to my younger sister. Nikki & I have really become quite addicted to Warhammer online. I’ve upgraded my 2nd PCs motherboard and CPU to play. My main PC is using my 40” LCD in my living room as a monitor & my 2nd PC is running on my 32” LCD also in the living room. Whenever the both of us are playing I’ll be set up on the 40” LCD which doesn’t allow us to do much except play the game. It’s sometimes frustrating because I know both of us wouldn’t mind having the TV going or watching football on Sunday.

I gave up my search for a VGA splitter for two monitors on one PC. It would be a huge headache due to the fact that I’m running my main PCs res at 1080 and using Nikki’s extra 17” monitor would cause problems because it obviously doesn’t support 1080. Switching between the two would be a mess. I came up with an expensive solution. Buy another PC for the 17” monitor.

I’m a loyal fan and user of CyberPowerPC.com considering my family and I have been buying from them for years. It’s about a $100 difference usually from buying a pre-made custom PC compared to building yourself. Since I’m on a tight budget I decided I order pieces and put something together myself. After having my good friend Sola coming by to switch the Motherboard of my 2nd PC I feel confident enough that I could build one from scratch.

The main site I looked at was TigerDirect.com because they are a local store here in Miami. They offer tons of great deals and have a great filtering system on their site. Not to mention the Barebones Combos are great! Once I thought I had everything picked out I realized with adding CPU fan, DVD Burner, etc… it got to be more than I was hoping for. I ended up trying Newegg.com for going piece by piece. It definitely seemed like a better deal and not to mention more specials on shipping (plus faster shipping). My only issue with Newegg was that their filtering system wasn’t as advanced as Tiger Direct. As a HUGE internet user and shopper I would love to be able to filter much more efficiently but ended up managing. Some examples I’m talking about are filtering Cases by ones with power supplies and ones without, also filtering on if the case has fans or number of fans.

I ended up spending less than $300 which was my goal with shipping and everything. I feel like all my pieces are fairly solid. My only concern is the motherboard because I went with Fox and not MSI, Asus, or XFX. Another concern is that I’m hoping the PS in the case isn’t DOA. I’m quite happy with my purchase especially with my new 9500GT. I’ll maybe post pictures of the process of putting it together.

Once this computer is done I’ll have 3 computers ready for gaming. LAN party anyone?
