I ended up downloading the Warhammer Beta via torrent since you need to have the beta key to begin download & have heard of hours of waiting in que. Since I bought the game via Circuit City I had to wait for the Beta key to show up in my e-mail. Luckily last night I received the beta key via e-mail and knew the 9gb file would be done by end of night. Yes thats right the WAR Beta is a 9.5 Gb file.

So everything is squared away and I’m ready to enter this world. Load the patcher and see my EA account is active and all systems go! Then as I enter my username and password. Authentication Failed!

I’ve changed my game password a bunch of times and nothing. Seems to be a big issue with the Beta so far. While on lunch I decided to call EA to see if they could help me out. Ended up calling EA Mythic and was placed on hold for about 30min and finally gave up since I needed to go back to work.

I sent an e-mail early morning about the issue and haven’t received any responses. I found many others with this problem on forums. Most users say they have had luck changing the game password but doesn’t work for everyone.

Update: Circuit City sent me an e-mail stating that the beta code they had sent out yesterday have been having some problems. I’ve updated my beta key and have yet to return home to test. If you’ve been having problems with your beta key I’d e-mail the retailer that gave you a key. It may be an issue on their side of the beta key. Just tried out new key. IT WORKS! Nice one CC fumbling the ball as usual.

Update: The Beta is over as of 9/14/2008 4am EST. If you get this error and were in Open Beta it’s because the Open beta is over!

Update: I’ve been playing on Sea of Malice. The game has definitely impressed me. My only issue is the TAB not being so accurate even after the fix. Feel free to add me to your friends list if you like. Infinity is my main (Destruction Sorc), DarkMonk is my Zealot & GloomyBear is my Chosen.

I had a problem with authentication failed and found out that my routers firewall was blocking the ports to the game. I disabled my firewall on my router and was then able to authenticate, I do not have the ports I opened on hand, but googled and found 1380,8046, and 10622. I am not able to confirm these ports yet, but more information about opening ports is located here: http://portforward.com/routers.htm.

I have the same problem, but found a solution which works for my com but not sure why… tried the same solution on my m8’s com and doesnt work so id say its a 50/50 chance it will work for you.

Basically as long as i have something downloading with bit-torrent in the background i will connect fine… think using bit-torrent opens up the right ports for my com to allow a proper connection… it sounds weird but its the only way my com will connect.
