Hauppauge HD PVR

I’ve done tons of research trying to solve a problem of wanting to record HDTV onto my PC. My building currently uses Primecast which uses Dish Network. I have a HD DVR but I want to record my shows onto the PC instead of storing it on the limited harddrive plus record straight to the PC. Their are lots of Tuners for the PC but none seem to support HDTV only via a QAM Tuner or OTA. A friend of work asked me about any solution and did some research to find nothing that would be in a decent price range or exactly what we were looking for. She later found out that the Hauppauge company that sells many of the most popular tuners for the PC was coming out with a HD PVR. Essentially this is what we were looking for. No one knew when it was finally going to be released and if it ever was. Some dates were released but eventually pushed back. Today I was surprised to see that it has been released and has some minor reviews for the product so far. Since it has been recently released some bugs do exist and some have even been reported not to work but this is expected with new technology. Hauppauge has addressed the problem already and is working on new firmwares.

Just so you know the device does not use HDMI. The reason is the protection on HDMI would not allow this. The unit uses Component Cables for connecting.
