One day I will never forget is the day I got MY first computer. It was a Pentium 75Mhz and man did that thing change my life. They printed out a color page with a picture of it and a clip art dragon. Great memories I have are playing Descent, Journey Man, and Kings Quest V on it. The one thing that I’ve never been able to forget and never find again was the screen saver. The guy who lived with my Uncle which taught me most the things about hardware, downloading, and general end user stuff installed this screen saver that totally blew my mind. I truly wish that I’d find a new version of it or even the old classic one. All I remember was the logo being something like the Meta Creations Logo.

With all that being said Nikki told me about this screen saver that she knows tons of people use. She had it installed on her laptop but never really checked it out. It’s one thing to see a screen saver on a 15″ monitor and another to see a screen saver on a 40″ LCD with the resolution set to 1080p.

It was called Electric Sheep referring to the Philip K. Dicks novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. It’s an open source screen saver that collects different ’sheep’ that anyone can make and cycles though them. They have software that allows you to make them. Never used the software but its a visualizers dream come true. Simply beautiful! There have been plenty of times where I’ll sit on the couch and just stare off into the Sheep. I highly recommend this screen saver to anyone. At first it takes a while to collect a good assortment of them. Be patient the longer you have it the better it gets. It also has options which lets you vote for your favorite with a simple keystroke. This allows it to be higher up on your rotation.
