StumbleUpon is one of those great new Web 2.0 tools. It literally is a tool bar that can be installed to most browsers. StumbleUpon lets you pick which topics you are most interested in and spits out some of the highest user rated sites on the net. Suppose you were really into art and didn’t feel like going though google searches on pages related to art and just wanted to see some websites related to art. Stumble literally gives you some random site that has been rated. The tool bar has all sorts of extra tools to help you stumble but the main two buttons on it besides Stumble! are Thumbs Up ‘I like it!’ or a thumbs down. The tool bar records brings up a window to rate the site and give a description and comments. The more thumbs up a site has the more likely it will be stumbled.
When installing the software you create a user profile. This allows you to add all the friends you have. With this feature it allows you to see different sites your friends have added and enjoyed. StumbleUpon is a great tool for browsing the net or just want to find some interesting sites or articles. One great time killer is Stumble Videos. If you ever want to watch a popular video you can be sure to find some interesting stuff with the video stumbles. Stumble images and news are also some other great features.
One last thing that is great about StumbleUpon is that if you want to e-mail something to some like a funny video it makes it simple to execute this.
All in all StumbleUpon allows you to surf the net and find pages that might interest you based on which topics you mark that you’re into. Now if you’re ever on a site or blog and see an icon that says StumbleUpon or SU logo you know this all about and how it works. The more thumbs up and good reviews the more likely the site will come up for a specific category.
