A week ago or so we decided that we wanted to have a party. We usually have people over all the time but never a large amount since we usually do it last minute. Our goal is to get a group of people together to call our little crew. It’s hard when you’re in a serious relationship and trying to have friends. Not to mention when we left Tampa we left all our friends. Luckily since I grew up here in Miami I have some friends but sometimes time kills connections and friendships. It’s as if we both started off from knowing no one it seemed, even to me.
Now that we are happy with our apartment and have furniture for once we’ve been trying to get a group together to spend time with and not just stay home together alone. Sometimes even I want to have some people around. It really seemed like it’d be easy to meet new friends and group, hah! Miami might be a huge city and tons of people but not easy to find people who relate too you when you try to be as eccentric as possible. I’m not saying that their aren’t tons of different people in Miami I’m just saying its hard to find people who we would like to call our friends and have around.
Our goal for the party was too try to get together all the people we knew and bring them together. Sort of hey lets see out of the people we know who will show up if we try to throw a party anyone would want to come too. We planned ahead and sent out tons of reminders and updates about what will be going on. We bought tons of stuff and tried to create an arrayment of things to do during the party and not just have people come over and sit around.
Our theme was Scotch & Whiskey. We got 1.75 of Jack Daniels, 1.75 of Crown Royal, 750 of Glenn Livet 12 yr, and Plum Wine. Picked up an assortment of cheese & crackers, peanuts, chocolate, and some other munchies. We planned to set up a poker table, hookah, video games, and music. All in all we had tons of things set up all nice for this since we wanted people to want to come back and hang out. Not to mention its always good to have a reputation of throwing a good party or that whole remember that one night at Nikki & JM’s.
At first we were worried not that many people would show up since it was pretty slow nearing 11pm. All of a sudden people just kept showing up. All in all it was a successful night. We played some Mario Kart in the beginning which was fun but most of the night just consisted of people interacting and talking. We definitely finished all the Jack & Crown. The cheese and crackers were a great hit and chocolate doesn’t hurt either. In the end we had security show up three times to tell us to quite down or else they’d have to call the cops. Their was probably around 15 people max in the apartment. Some people we really wanted to come didn’t make it but it was their lose. In the end I have to say it was tons of fun and definitely drank quite a bit to feel pretty terrible when I woke up. The last set of people left around 6am. Good times!
